Brief Bio :
Nik Damez is the newest, freshest, hiphop artist to come out of Staten Island N.Y. in a very long time. Coming up in the same neighborhoods as the Wu-tang clan, Nik seems to be determined to separate himself from the "Shaolin" stereo type. "Im me, theres only one me, just like there can only be one wu tang, i dont want to be them" Says Nik as he rolls his necklace over his fingers. "Theres no doubt that they influenced me but i want to bring staten back under a new light". Nik was recently featured on the sound track to the documentary "Killa Hill" along side Inspecta deck & Shyheim. His song "Get it in" was the break out song of the soundtrack. Earning him the respect of his local peers. But Damez is not new to the game. He was ranked in the top 25 mc's out of 15 thousand in the loud.com online battle competition and stemming from that Damez got the opportunity to work with Src/universal motown A&R "Reality" and is now featured on his "Future history" compilation album along side such artists as Camp-lo, Prodigy (of mobbdeep), Skyzoo and more.Nik has hit the music industry fueled by born talent, determination and a vendetta. His Flexibility and willingness to take chances musically is what separates him from the "hardcore' stereo type. Doing pop/r&b & even old school remixes like RUNDMC's "tricky" are the type of things that are moving him in a whole new direction. While his original tracks are full of soulful samples and high tempo drum's that can keep a dance floor packed & moving, all the while maintaining a heavy overtone of "hard hood" lyrics.
